Bollywood heartthrob and Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan announced on Thursday, May 22, 2008 that he will boycott the remaining Indian Premier League matches, till the time the code of conduct is explained and clarified by the IPL and cricketing authorities. The actor had been cautioned on Sunday, May 18, 2008 by the ICC anti-corruption unit from not entering the team dugout and dressing room.
The Bollywood superstar however had expressed his disappointment with the decision of barring him from entering the team’s dressing room to the media. The actor had responded to the warning saying that he does not know the ICC rules and is very disappointed with ICC stopping him. The IPL had acted immediately to the remarks of the actor and had clarified on Monday, May 19, 2008 that one team owner was allowed in the team dugout during the matches.
Besides the team owner, the franchise was allowed to let in four others in the dugout for fifteen minutes. The actor has also snubbed the rumors of differences between him and the team’s captain Sourav Ganguly. The Kolkata Knight Riders hope of playing in the semi-finals were however washed out on Thursday, May 22, 2008, after rains caused the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils to be abandoned.
