Shahid Afridi charged of ball tampering says in his defence that he was just trying to smell the ball. The Pakistani all-rounder has been banned for two T20 Internationals on Sunday after he was caught tampering the ball at fifth and final ODI against Australia in Perth.
Coach Intikhab Alam who was surprised with Afridi’s acting "like eating an apple" said,"It is unfortunate, he (Afridi) has accepted it that he should not have done it. It is unacceptable, it should not have happened - I feel sorry for him, being a captain you should be above everything.”
Afridi defending himself said,"I tried to smell it. There was some things on it that I tried to move.”
Afridi has also been charged earlier in 2005 for twisting his spikes and trying to change pitch condition during a Test match against England in Faisalabad.
