Shah Rukh Khan after a brief silence has finally spoken up and said that he has no issues apologising to anybody as long as it is not about his character or the principles he holds as a person.

Khan said that he has apologised before whenever his films have hurt the sentiments of people or sparked an unwanted feeling among the people. He said that this time, however, he did not apologise as the Shiv Sena raised questions on his Indianness.

The Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad had protested against the release of MNIK following his display of support towards the Pakistani Players after they were disgracefully left out in the IPL auction. The controversy did draw audiences in large numbers to the theatres as soon as the movie released but the business seems to have dipped now.
