Noted Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi has been conferred with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Global Leadership Award at Macau on Friday (June 12). IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan presented the award to Shabana Azmi. The 58-year-old acclaimed actress has been nominated for the leadership award for her hard work in denouncing AIDS and communalism and improving lives of slum dwellers.
After receiving the global leadership award, Shabana said that she will now focus on strengthening women’s role in facilitating global change in all fields. She urged the global leaders of various felids to give more attention on issues like economic meltdown, global warming and terrorism. According to Shabana Azmi, it is very essential to follow the best practice and to apply a code of ethics to all transactions. It is only then we can look forward for a cause, added the actress.
She insisted that the role of women is very important in bringing about a global change in all felids. Shabana stated that the recognition meant a lot to her. The acclaimed actress is known for her powerful performances in movies like 'Masoom', 'Arth', 'Mandi' and recently released 'Morning Raga', '15 Park Avenue' and 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd'. Shabana Azmi is the winner of five National Film Awards for Best Actress.
