A recent study concludes that those among the diabetic men who face problem keeping an erection face twice the risk of developing heart diseases in comparison to the remaining. The Chinese University of Hong Kong underscores that the main reason behind both may be damaged blood vessel caused by increased sugar levels. It is suggested that men suffering from erectile dysfunction see a doctor.

The study says that the accruing of the problem of erectile dysfunction should serve as a warning to both patients and his doctor as it may lead to heart problems later. It was even reported by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology that researchers wanted to find out if this erection problem in men can be a clear warning for future heart ailments.

Researches conducted earlier point towards the fact that emergence of sexual problems in men usually precedes development of heart related ailments in type II diabetic men by approximately three years. This conclusion was made only after diligent examination of the case. As many as 2,306 men were selected, among whom more than a quarter suffered from erectile dysfunction. It is to be noted that none showed any indications of a heart problem. Over the course of the next four years, 123 men either suffered from a stroke, died because of a heart disease or developed chest pain and other heart problems.
