In an attempt to win the third US Open title this year, Serena Williams put up an aggressive performance in the first round on Tuesday, August 26, ousting Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko by 6-1, 6-4. Through her powerful serve and searing groundstrokes, the fourth ranked American managed to wrap the game  within an hour's time at the Arthur Ashe Stadium court.

Serena Williams was the US Open Champion in both 1999 as well as in 2002, apart from being a runner up to her sister Venus in 2001. The first set seemed to be cakewalk for Serena Williams who wrapped it up in just 19 minutes before breaking her rival in the 10th game of the second set to seal the win. An upbeat Serena Williams told the media later, 'I'm feeling confident and I feel like I'm just really, really, really enjoying myself.'
