Keeping the state of Mumbai terror attack in mind, the authorities on Thursday (November 27) beefed up the security arrangements at the Somnath Temple and its adjoining premises. Two companies of State Reserve Police Force have been deployed metal detectors placed at all entry points in the temple. Also, in order to ensure the safety of the temple, an officer of the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been posted to scrutinize the security arrangements constantly.
Barricades have been placed on all the major routes leading to the temple. Additional police forces have also been deployed throughout the district. Mounted police has also been placed into service and security has been tightened at prominent places and trading points.
A national daily quoted Hari Krishna Patel, Superintendent of Police of Junagadh as saying that adequate security arrangements was made and the entire police force had been put on maximum alert throughout the district. The security was being reviewed every time on a 24-hour basis.
