We know that, lizards mimic their enemies by detaching their tails. But the lost part can be regenerated later. Now such type of regeneration can be possible with the humans too. Scientists at Tel Aviv University have developed a new bio-technique which can help in regenerating bones and tissue. It will be extremely helpful in replacing lost parts of our body.

Meital Zilberman, professor at TAU, has developed an active substance called ‘scaffold’ prepared from soluble fibers, which may help in regenerating the damaged tissue or bones. However, she is doing more research for regenerating other parts of the body like arteries, skin and muscles.

Zilberman says, "The bioactive agents that spur bone and tissue to regenerate are available to us. The problem is that no technology has been able to effectively deliver them to the tissue surrounding that missing bone."

As per her experiment, the artificial tissue could connect the other tissues together by releasing growth-stimulating materials. Interestingly, the scaffold tissue can be shaped in any form to get a desired bone and can also be dissolved whenever necessary. So Zilberman hopes that such a finding can be helpful for replacing a lost limb or even performing dental implants too.

This finding has been published in the science journal Acta Biomaterialia.
