California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will hold a Global Climate Summit to discuss global warming and its solutions. According to Arnold, the real action for any new ideas is always on the local level, and with the help of summit he would be able to push the agenda. He is planning to hold the summit in the month of November, before the UNO talks on climate change in Poland.
Interestingly, Schwarzenegger has been against the policies of Bush in terms of climate and global warming. He considered Bush's climate policy a failure of leadership on global warming and other matters. Also, with his effort, California and other states sued the federal government after the administration denied their attempt to impose environment friendly vehicle emission standards.
Arnold said that he is taking initiative to fill the gap created by the failure of the U.S. to take the lead on initiatives seeking to slow or reduce the rate of global warming. He opined that for all these he could not wait the federal government and he would try to push things forward. Interestingly, there is no list of leaders who will participate in the conference.
