Slapped with another allegation that vital organs are missing from the body of rape and murder victim Scarlett Keeling, the Goa Government is again under pressure to prove itself not guilty. The Goa government therefore declared on Tuesday 15 April that no cover up was being attempted and that the body parts of the British teenager were preserved for investigations.
The government further stated that the two autopsies were conducted on the body of the British teenager Scarlett Keeling as per the necessary procedures adhered to in the country. Chief Secretary JP Singh stated in Panjim that the government had absolutely nothing to cover up in the murder case of Scarlett Keeling, which has been dominating the media news. This controversy about the missing organs of Scarlett erupted after a section of national media reported it did (during autopsy in UK).
The chief secretary explained that half of each kidney was extracted during the two autopsies. Full stomach was removed in the first autopsy with its content, while the uterus has been sent for histopathological examination. He also said the government did not intent to prevent Scarlett's mother, Fiona Mackeown from returning India from the UK. Minister JP Singh said infact Fiona Mackeown’s presence would be mandatory as the CBI would need to interrogate her when it takes up the case.
