The Supreme Court has stayed the criminal proceeding against Sharad Pawar and Associates pertaining to false affidavits In Dalmiya expulsion case. The stay order came after Pawar and five officials contended that they were not heard by the High Court of Kolkata while passing the order. The case was heard by the bench headed by Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan.

Dalmiya has charged that Sharad Pawar along with other officials, BCCI President Sashank Manohar, former secretary Niranjan Shah, Ratnakar Shetty (Chief Administrative Officer), N Srinivasan (Secretary) and Chirayu Amin, junior Cricket Committee Chairman had given wrong affidavits and the same were handy in his expulsion.

Earlier, Kolkata High Court on November 12 had directed initiation of criminal proceedings against above mentioned officials. The high profile dismissal of Dalimya by then BCCI head Sharad Pawar had created huge controversy. Allegedly, Jagmohan Dalmiya was dismissed for he had misused the 1996 World Cup funds.
