India’s Satyam Computer Services Ltd, an IT consulting and services provider, has recently announced its decision to establish a new campus at the Geelong Technology Precint, Victoria, Australia. Satyam already has a good network in important zones of Australia like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. Its new campus will be sprawled over 25-acre and will employ 2,000 employees. Its presence seeks to produce a positive economic impact on the city of Geelong and neighboring regions.
The new Satyam Campus at the Geelong Technology Precint will comprise a software development unit as well as facilities for training, research and development etc. The spokesperson for Satyam Computer Services Ltd announced that the Geelong campus would be vital for the company’s long-term goals of setting up new centres in strategic locations around the world.
It was further stated that Geelong was chosen as the location for Satyam’s new unit due to its highly skilled ICT talent, superb infrastructure and transport links to Melbourne. Satyam will take up a series of joint activities with the Deakin University such as staff exchange, work-integrated learning student projects, graduate employment programme and joint research apart from scholarships and prizes. Satyam Australia has a significant workforce of more than 1,400 associates, of which over 42 per cent are local nationals.
