According to the new findings, Titan, Saturn's largest moon, has a huge lake filled with liquid gas. Also, the liquid is expected to be methane, and ethane. The study has been carried out jointly by NASA with University of Arizona. The huge lake spreads in 7800 squire miles called ‘Ontario Lacus’ is located in South Pole of the Titan.
The study has been published out by famous science journal ‘Nature’ in its latest edition. Talking about the latest finding Larry Soderblom, a researcher with the U.S. Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Ariz said that the long-held idea that Saturn's moon contains such gases is confirmed now with the study. Interestingly, Titan is 150 percent bigger than Earth’s moon.
The scientists in mission manifestly used Cassini’s infrared abilities to access the atmospheric conditions of Titan. Now, the report says that it is found that the lake is in the shape of a beach. Also, Titan is the only solar system moon known to support a planet-like atmosphere. The journal reports that it is first close observation of the atmosphere of Titan.
