The International Hockey Federation (FIH) awarded the golden whistle to Satinder Kumar of India for officiating in 100 matches.

Satinder Kumar became the first Indian to receive the golden whistle. The Indian umpire earned the honour from International Hockey Federation for officiating 100 matches.
 
Hockey India in its statement said that Satinder was the 29th international umpire to get the honour. Satinder umpired his 100th match in Invercargill, New Zealand at the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers.
 
Satinder started his international career in 2000 .He became an International Grade 1 Umpire a year later.Satinder’s good work earned him nomination in the World Panel in 2002.
 
His career credits include officiating in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, two World Cups and five Champions Trophies.
