The Yahoo! e-mail account of Sarah Palin, which she uses for official purpose as Alaska's governor, has been hacked. As proof of this, the hackers have leaked a few insignificant emails that the Republican vice-presidential candidate received after John McCain chose her as his running mate. A statement was, consequently, released by the McCain Campaign.

It said, 'This is a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law. The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these e-mails will destroy them.' On Wednesday, September 17, 2008, the Associated Press was asked by the Secret Service to hand them copies of the leaked-emails that are widely available on the web. The AP refused to obey.

The Wednesday revelation raises questions about the correctness of using non-governmental e-mail accounts by Sarah Palin's administration for conducting state business. This trend, however, was revealed months back, much before Palin was selected as McCain's running mate. Political critics had got hold of internal e-mails documenting the practice by some aides.
