The execution of Indian prisoner, Sarabjit Singh has been delayed for a month by the Pakistani authorities. According to the reports of a TV news channel, Sarabjit was to be hanged on May 1, 2008 but the Indian government has requested Pak authoroties to show mercy on the prisoner on humanitarian grounds.
Meanwhile, Minister of Human & Rights in Pakistan, Ansar Burney, has said that he has enough evidences to show that Sarabjit has no connections with the bomb blasts that rocked Lahore and Multan in 1990. The blasts killed 14 people.
Sarabjit has been on death row in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail for 17 years while his family has been constantly saying that he is innocent. On Wednesday, they were granted permission by the Pakistani authorities to meet him in Pakistan.
