Delhi High Court has held Sanjeev Nanda guilty under IPC section 304 (Part II); sentence would be given tomorrow. Pronouncing his judgment Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar said that he has found Sanjeev Nanda guilty under Section 304 (Part II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC. Thirty year old, Sanjeev Nanda had killed six persons on January 10, 1999 in the Lodhi Colony in south Delhi, under the wheels of his BMW.

The High Court has found guilty three others too, which include businessman Rajeev Gupta and his two employees Bhola Nath and Shyam Singh. All the three persons have been convicted for destroying evidence; they had washed the blood stains and victims' flesh pieces from the BMW. However, Manik Kapoor, who had accompanied Sanjeev Nanda on the unfortunate night, has been acquitted by the court of justice.

Soon after the judgment, convicts Nanda and others were taken into police custody. Rajeev Mohan, Public Prosecutor of the case expressed satisfaction over the judgment where the whole case was based on circumstantial evidence and many of witnesses had turned hostile. On the other hand, as was expected, the defending lawyer pleaded that the case is one of an accident under IPC section 304A (causing death by negligence).
