Sanjay Dutt is set to play the role of Charles Sobhraj in Prawal Raman's upcoming film 'Charles and I.' Sobhraj is serving his sentence in Nepal for the murder of an American woman in the 1970s. Sobhraj is accused of several killings, robberies and poisoning in 1970s across Asia which has earned him the name 'Bikini Killer'. Prawal Raman who will direct the movie told the reporters on Monday, May 5, 2008, that the complex character of Sobhraj can be played only by Sanjay Dutt.
Sanjay Dutt has been charged under 'Arms Act' by the TADA court and has served a sentence of 18 months for the same. He was a drug addict earlier and was charged for buying illegal weapons from the accused of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. The blasts killed more than 250 people and will always be remembered as one of the deadliest terror attacks Mumbai has seen.
The shooting of the film will start after Dutt finishes his other projects. Meanwhile, Dutt sounded very excited about his role. The film is being produced by People Pictures and is expected to hit the theaters in the middle of 2009.
