Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is all set to make his political debut as he announced to contest Lok Sabha polls on Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket. While announcing his decision the actor said that he has been asked by Amar Singh to offer his services to the people of the country and hence he decided to contest election.
Commenting on cases under the arms act for the Mumbai serial blasts of 1993, Sanjay Dutt said that his lawyers will ask for suspension of sentence. He further said that if Navjot Singh Sidhu who has been convicted of murder was allowed to contest election then what wrong about him. He also stated that if any legal hurdle confronts him, he will face it.
Sanjay Dutt will contest Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow. Commenting on that Amar Singh said that the city is emotional tied up with the actor. He reminded that Lucknow was the place which offered Sanjay Dutt’s father, Sunil Dutt a job in All India Radio (AIR) when he fled Pakistan after the partition.
The actor also said that the Samajwadi Party and the Congress are in alliance and they are not really separate. Amar Singh also atoned him and said that the party needs the support and favour of Congress. He said that if the Congress wants Sanjay Dutt to contest on its ticket then the decision will be warmly welcomed.
