Sania Mirza’s last hope in the US open shattered as she lost her second round match in the mixed doubles. Sania Mirza who had teamed up with Daniel Nestor of Canada was beaten by Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott of USA.
 
The Americans defeated the Indo-Canadian pair in straight sets by 6-1, 6-4.
 
Sania has already lost her singles and women's doubles encounters in US Open.She had paired up with Francesca Schiavone of Italy in women’s doubles. The Italian failed to deliver at crucial points .The Indo-Italian pair lost to unseeded duo of Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Shahar Peer of Israel by 2-6, 6-1, 5-7 in the second round.
 
India has strengthened its position in the US open with Indian aces Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes advancing into the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles. Both the players made it into the quarters with their respective team-mates having won their last round matches in straight sets.
