Sania Mirza and Chia-Jung Chuang entered into the second round of women's doubles of the French Open. After being kicked out of the singles, Sania Mirza partnered with Taipei's Chia-Jung Chuang and the pair won its first round match by defeating Ipek Senoglu and Yanina Wickmayer on Wendesday (May 27). The Indo-Taipei pair wrapped up the match in one hour and 14 minutes with scores of 7-5, 6-1.
After winning the first set, the Sania- Chia pair did not give any opportunity to the opponents and won the second set in 24 minutes. Both Sania and Chia converted all the five breakpoints in the match and saved three of five they faced on their own serve. The Indo-Taipei pair will now face the winners of the the match between Viktoriya Kutuzova/Aravane Rezai and Agnieszka Radwanska/Urszula Radwanska.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sania Mirza lost her opening match of singles event to Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva. Meanwhile, top-seeded Dinara Safina entered into the third round by defeating Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia 6-1, 6-1. Defending champion Ana Ivanovic also progressed into third round by beating Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 6-1, 6-2. On men's side, Roger Federer entered the second round by beating Alberto Martin of Spain 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Apart from him, Andy Murray entered into the third round by beating Potito Starace Italy 6-3, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
