The very popular children’s film of Satyajit Ray, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne that has three sequels already, may get one more. One hears that Sandip Ray, the son of late director Satyajit Ray, is seriously thinking about recreating the adventures of the two musical wizards in the fourth sequel which will have a contemporary setting. Since the original Bengali flick Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne witnessed phenomenal success, Sandip would have the challenge of retaining the same flavor in the latest one also.
Sources state that if Sandip Ray can decide on the storyline and work out details, the fourth sequel of Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne will get ready in the next two years. ‘I have received offers from a producer for a new Goopy Bagha film, but I have a lot of work in my hands right now,’ said Sandip Ray. He is reported to be tied up with Tintoretor Jishu, one another children’s film project. Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, directed by the late Satyajit Ray, is based on a story penned by his father Upendra Kishore Ray.
