The government took the decision of handing over the investigation of Samjhauta Express blast case 2007 to the National Investigation Agency.
Utthan Kumar Bansal, Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs said, “Samjhauta blast case has been handed over to the NIA."
The Samjhauta Express explosion killed sixty-eight people when two of the coaches of Samjhauta Express had bombs. The explosion took place on February 18, 2007 around 80 kilometres away from Delhi near Panipat.
The investigating agency that was probing Samjhauta Express explosion case is reported to have some evidence that indicates that a Hindu right wing activist organisation might be behind the blast.
The Samjhauta Express train runs from Delhi to Lahore twice every week.
