The highly popular British author Salman Rushdie has done it again. He attained the feat of winning the ‘Best of the Booker’ prize for his Midnight’s Children on Thursday, July 10, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of one of the most acclaimed literary awards. It was way back in 1981 when Midnight’s Children first clinched the Booker Prize and Rushdie then happened to be the most favorite of authors around. This is evident from the fact that the 1981 Booker Prize Award was decided by the public from a shortlist of six in an online poll.
Then there was 1993, the year which was the 25th anniversary of the Booker Prize. It was decided to choose a book that would be the Booker of Bookers i.e. the best among all prizes awarded till then and it was Rushdie’s Midnight Children that emerged as the winner.
