Is it not amazing how each one has his / her own unique take on life? Take Mexican actress Salma Hayek’s for instance. While many across the world see marriage as a divine institution and a necessary one too, 41 year-old Hayek on the other hand admits that she does not feel the ‘need’ to get married. The lady has infact just called off her engagement to businessmen boyfriend Francois-Henri Pinault. This news comes almost a year after the couple pronounced their engagement and Hayek’s pregnancy in 2007.  

In September 2007, Salma Hayek gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Valentina, whereas her marriage was scheduled for next spring (09). Pinault, 45, already has two children from a previous marriage. ‘We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been cancelled,’ the USA Today magazine quoted Hayek's representative as saying. ‘There will be no further comment,’ the actress’s representative had added.

In one of her issues to the Glamour Magazine in April, Salma Hayek had commented that marriage for her is a completely different issue and that she did not really feel the need to get married. ‘Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not,’ she had remarked. She had then added, ‘You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things. Some people need the commitment. Maybe we''ll just make the party!’ she had added.
