Saina Nehwal, the 18-year-old champion, got out of the Olympics' badminton competition when she lose the quarterfinal game to Maria Kristin Yulianti of Indonesia in Beijing. On her debut Olympic trip, she went down 28-26 14-21 15-21 in the rousing contest against Yulianti. In a nerve-racking opening game, Saina squandered away a game point before getting her act jointly to go one up.
 
However, not withstanding the early setback, Yulianti poised in the next game and was helped considerably by Saina’s mistakes. The decider appeared going Saina’s way as she led 11-5 at one point, but Yulianti quickly equalized before concluding the game and the match. In the men’s competition, Anup Sridhar has already quit after losing in the round of 16 of the men’s singles event.
