Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal advanced into the quarter-finals of French Super Series. She comfortably won the second round of the women's singles event in Paris defeating Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong.
The eighth seed Saina outclassed Pui by 21-15; 21-14.She will face top seed Wang Lin of China in her last eight clash. Wang Lin had defeated Bulgarian Petya Nedelcheva by 21-2, 21-8 in her second round match on Thursday.
The mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and D Viju also reserved a place in quarter-final. Sixth seed pair of Jwala-Diju crushed English pair of Dean George and Samantha Ward by 19-21, 21-10, 21-16 in a game that lasted for 42-minutes.
However, Jwala with her partner Ashwini Ponnappa went down to fifth seed Chinese pair of Jin Maa and Xiaoli Wang by 18-21, 20-22 in women’s doubles in 32 minutes.
The Indian men’s doubles pair of Rupesh Kumar and Thomas Sanave also lost their pre-quarterfinals match against third seed Dane pair of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen by 15-21, 21-13, 21-12.
