SAIL has witnessed a growth of 14% in its sales for the second quarter of 2009-10 fiscal year, when compared to the similar period last fiscal.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), which is the largest manufacturer of steel in India, has witnessed a growth of 14% in its sales for the second quarter of 2009-10 fiscal year. The sales of SAIL stood at more than 3 million tonnes for the Q2 ended Sep 2009.
 
"The company achieved record Q2 sales of over 3 million tonnes, registering growth of 14 per cent over the corresponding period last year," Steel Authority of India Ltd said in a regulatory statement.
 
The statement also mentioned that the special steel production has touched 1.2 million tonnes, which is about 15% higher than the corresponding period of last fiscal year.
 
Sale of long products, which are used mainly by the construction sector, also witnessed a growth by 14 per cent, in the second quarter of this fiscal.
 
Production of flat-rolled items that are generally used by the automobile industry and the consumer durables industry has witnessed a growth by 13% when compared to the similar period during the previous fiscal.
