The Sahara BCCI Corporate Trophy was unveiled on Thursday by the Indian cricket board in presence of notable cricketers which included Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh.
The 12-team tournament will be played in four venues which include Mohali, Vishakhapatnam, Dharamsala and Bangalore. It aims at reviving the diminishing corporate interest in the game
BCCI secretary N Srinivasan, joint secretary Sanjay Jagdale and corporate communications chief of Sahara Group Abhijit Sarkar unveiled the trophy.
The one-day tournament that will take place from September 1 to 8 will see most of the Indian cricketers in action.
Srinivasan speaking at the inaugural ceremony said that the corporate interest in the game has declined considerably during the years.
The former Indian captain who spoke on behalf of the cricketers praised BCCI’s effort to organise the tournament and said it to be a "great step in reinvigorating" corporate interest in the game of cricket.
The teams that are taking part in the tournament include Indian Revenue, ITC, Air India - Blue, BPCL, MRF, ONGC, AIPSSPB, Tata Sports Club, Indian Oil, Air India-Red, India Cements and BSNL.
