To take SIMI leader Safdar Nagori on police remand, Gujarat police will present him in an Ahmedabad court. Earlier, Nagori who has allegedly been involved in recent bomb blasts in Ahmedabad was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in March this year was brought on transfer warrant by the Ahmedabad crime branch.
According to police sources Nagori was aware of the plan of terrorists to carry out blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. To get any breakthrough into recent bomb blasts his interrogation is necessary and for that matter only police wants his remand to be extended with it. So far, four of his associates have already been brought in Ahmedabad for interrogation in connection with the recent blasts.
Earlier, Gujarat Police arrested Safdar Nagori and his associates Karimuddin Nagori, Ameel Pervez, Shibly and Mohammad Hafiz. Evidently, at least 16 bombs exploded in Ahmedabad on July 26, and a little-known group called the 'Indian Mujahideen' had claimed responsibility for the same. However, police does not accept this, as it considers Indian Mujahideen is just 'another identity' for SIMI.
