The sacked NCW member Nirmala Venkatesh is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday (March 5). The Ministry of Women and Child Development removed Nirmala Venkatesh from National Commission for Women (NCW) last week over Mangalore pub assault probe. The Commission sacked Venkatesh because she was unable to present a clean and unbiased report on the pub attack investigation.

Nirmala Venkatesh who was earlier tied up with Congress decided to join BJP on her own wish. She expressed her willingness to join the party when BJP’s senior leader L.K. Advani visited Bangalore last week. BJP state president D.V. Sadananda Gowda stated that the party has not assured Nirmala of any post or election ticket.

Commenting on Niramla's removal, Gowda stated that she produced a clear-cut report on the Mangalore pub attack but her party wanted her to present a report that suited its interest. As she was unable to follow the party, she had been removed form NCW. Following her removal from NCW Nirmala Venkatesh is reported to be considering to challenge the commission's decision in the Supreme Court. She has also been sacked from Congress party.
