Indian cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar and Zahir Khan are almost all set to pull out from the upcoming Bangladesh, Pakistan tri-series. Zahir Khan is almost ruled out from the tour of Bangladesh, where the Indian team will be playing a tri-series featuring Pakistan as the third team apart from India and the host Bangladesh.
According to reports, the heel injury that happened to Zahir Khan after the Boxing Day Test match against Australia at the Melbourne has been causing him some serious trouble. Because of this injury, he has also missed two Indian Premier League matches in Chennai and Hyderabad. Subsequently, Zahir Khan was also ruled out of the Royal Challengers Bangalore's match against the Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.
The selection for the Bangladesh tri-series will take place on Friday but Zahir Khan himself has expressed that he would like to pull out of the series because of his heel injury. Khan feels that a three week break before the Asia Cup commences on June 24 would help him tremendously. On the other hand, it is a little doubtful whether master blaster Sachin Tendulkar will be participating in the upcoming tri-series or not.
According to a senior BCCI official, the Selection Board would not be surprised if he decides to back off from the upcoming series. Tendulkar is to convey his availability for the series to the chief selector Dilip Vengasarkar or to the Board Secretary Niranjan Shah. Sachin Tendulkar is not really suffering from any kind of injury; it’s just that the board as well as Tendulkar himself feels that the kind of cricket that is to be played in the upcoming months requires that he should not tour Bangladesh.
However, Sachin Tendulkar will be playing the Asia Cup which is to happen on June - July. The Indian team leaves for Bangladesh on June 8 where it is scheduled to play their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 10.
