Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, who has hit more than 80 centuries, has turned down a mega offer through which he would have had to endorse a liquor brand. This deal, which was throttled in the end, would have been the highest money grossing deal ever in India’s cricket history, surpassing Dhoni’s 26 crores deal that was signed with United Breweries Group (UB) for three years.

Spokesperson of World Sports Group (WSG), which oversees his endorsements say, "He did get an offer but we are not in a position to name the company or give details of the offer". This offer is reported given him Rs 20 crore annually.

One former cricket player gave information that Sachin is guarding the promise that he had made to his father Ramesh Tendulkar some years back. He says’ “His father had advised him against endorsing alcohol-related or tobacco products soon after he had made the Indian Test team. Anyways, money can never lure Tendulkar and this offer is a classic example of how he believes in his principles and values his cricket".

UB group, which is based in Bangalore, had earlier planned to sign a deal with this little maestro, but had to settle with Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They have also signed four other players with him for the promotion of McDowells brand.
