Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan on Monday, May 5. The youth icon was presented this award by the President of India, Pratibha Patil. Upon receiving the award, an overwhelmed Sachin Tendulkar said that he felt very happy and that he lacked words to explain how he was exactly feeling.

 

‘In 18 years, I have received several awards but this one is close to my heart. I'm happy that the government has acknowledged my contribution,’ Sachin Tendulkar added. Anjali, wife of Sachin Tendulkar, who was present at the time of the award conferring ceremony said that she was proud of her husband. She said her husband played the game from the heart and that he did not require an award to perform better.
