Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar will not be participating in the Olympic torch rally event, according to TV reports. This is seen as a big blow to the Olympic Torch Relay which is to take place in the National Capital. The reason why Tendulkar refused to take part in the event is still not known. According to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) though, it seems Sachin did not want to aggravate his groin injury by running in the race, which can ruin his chances to take part in the upcoming Indian Premiere League (IPL) tournament.

The final list of runners is to be announced on Wednesday. Last minute opting out of Sachin Tendulkar is being seen as a big blow for the IOA. This comes a day after Bollywood star Soha Ali Khan refused to take part in the rally as well citing "strong personal reasons". The whole sports fraternity has been demanding strongly that only sportspersons should run in the Olympic torch relay.
