The Karachi-based magnificent Mohatta Palace reverberated with music and cheer during the convention of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) inaugural awards on Saturday, on July 5. It was an impressive event featuring video clippings, music, lights and above all the presence of legendary cricketers. The best batsman and best bowler awards for Tests in 2007 went to Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan respectively.
It was a crucial ceremony for the Indians too as the universal favorite Sachin Tendulkar was named the best batsman in ODIs, whereas Sunil Gavaskar was listed in the legendary cricketer award category. It is another thing that neither Tendulkar nor Gavaskar were present at this ACC event. Former Pakistani player, Imran Khan too was not present even though he too won the legendary cricketer award.
