Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot has mentioned that the auction of 3G spectrum will take place according to the fixed schedule.

"The 3G spectrum allocation process will go on as per schedule in January," Pilot said, while addressing the media on the margins of a business meeting.

His remarks come amid controversies over the allotting of the 2G spectrum for private telecom players last year.

The DoT had announced last week that the3G spectrum auctioning, which is slated to take pace in January 2010, will have four stages starting with the invitation of the bid, pre-qualification, auction, and finally, the grant of spectrum.

The pre-bid conference is slated to take place on Nov 16 where as the mock auction will take place between Jan 11 and Jan 12 in 2010.

Opposition parties have accused of large-scale irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation and demanded the resignation of Communications and IT Minister A. Raja.
