According to the commander of the Russian Air Force, the unmanned aerial vehicles which are manufactured by the domestic firms possess low quality. According to Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin, the indigenous UAVs did not adhere to the specified requirements.
"To put such drones into service is simply a crime," he said, adding that "I am, therefore, refusing to sign any acceptance papers."
Russia had procured 12 UAVs from Israel, which costs about $53 million. Military officials are on record as saying that "in literally one year," Russia will start the production of its own unmanned planes, on a par with Israeli versions.
Estimates claim that Russian military may require about 100 UAVs as well as 10 guidance systems for effective battlefield reconnaissance.
