Rural Electrification Corp has registered a net profit of Rs.494.36 crore for the second quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal year which ended Sep 30, witnessing a 60% surge from the Rs.308.79 crore reported during the 2008-09 Q2.
The total income of the company grew 38.29% to be logged at Rs.1,623 crore during the Q2 of 2009-10 as against the Rs.1,173.58 crore last fiscal.
The government will likely consider a proposal soon to divest 10 percent in the company, whose main objective is to finance and promote rural electrification projects all over the country.
