Tarun Gogoi, the chief minister of Assam at a function at Judges Field to celebrate the completion of his government’s two years in office announced Rs 1500 crore development package for the state. The development package is expected to be implemented in the next three years, the benefits of which shall be touching all the sections of the society. The announcement came minutes after his party colleagues coined the sobriquet ‘the architect of modern Assam’ to describe him.
On the second anniversary of Congress in the state, the chief minister announced a slew of schemes which are packaged as ‘Mukhya Mantrir Asom Bikash Yojana’. Some of the highlights of the ambitious scheme are creating one lakh job in the government sector in the next three years, all pregnant women be given Rs 1000 to consume nutritional food, as well as the government will also open a fixed deposit of Rs 5000 in the name of every girl child born in below poverty line families. A Congress leader however remarked that completing the various schemes in the next three years is going to be a Herculean task.
