Anand based research firm has innovated an electronic school bag (ESB) which promises to be useful for government schools, and will cost Rs 1,200. Group chief of the company Jagdish Bharwad said that they have been working on this project for two years, and finally the device will be made available to government-run schools shortly.
Mr Bharwad further said that these ESBs can be modified as per the class in which the children are enrolled. Like, a student enrolled in class III won't have to carry books and guides to schools as all such study material can be stored in the ESB. He informed that study material of children enrolled in higher classes can be modified accordingly.
Similarly, according to Bharwad the ESB would be able to provide writing facility for students to complete their homework. It can be attached to a printer as well. However, he warned that data of one ESB cannot be transferred to another. Unlike color screen laptops the ESBs will have black and white LCDs. Mr Bharwad informed that ESB is outcome of Rs 1.20 crore investments on R&D.
