Addressing the launch of a new model of Royal Enfield ‘Thunderbird Twinspark’ it’s director RL Ravichandran told media that company has decided to invest 25 crore rupees for the further expansion of production. The director said that after the growth in sales the company is thinking of further expansion. The company will produce 60,000 units per year with enhanced capability. In current fiscal year the company produced over 39,000 bikes.
Mr Siddhartha Lal MD & CEO of Eicher Motors on the occasion said that the company has been working on the twin spark plug technology since the late 1990s. Further he added that the 500-cc version targets the export market and the 350-cc the domestic market. According to the company officials the expanded production capacity would be in place by 2010-11 and company targets to come up with more than four new models by that time. The company will have two models each for domestic and International market
On the occasion Mr Ravichandran said that the company has not touched the classic look of the bike which gives the touch of WWII era. Also the company has introduced a 500-cc UCE with an electronic fuel ignition in the international markets which would be introduced at the international auto shows in Europe later this year.
