Manish Pandey scored a brilliant century that helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat in-form Deccan Chargers by 12 runs in the last league match played at Centurion on Thursday (May 21). The nineteen-year-old batsman became the first Indian batsman to score a century in the second edition of IPL. Manish Pandey amassed 114 runs in just 73 balls and guided his team to post a total of 170 runs in 20 overs. His power-packed innings was studded with 10 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from him, young Virat Kholi (19 off 9) also played a good hand in the last over.
From there on Deccan Chargers could not recover and in the end managed to reach 158 runs in 20 overs. The captain of Royal Challengers led his team very intelligently apart from picking up two crucial wickets. The man-of-the match award was given to Manish Pandey for his maiden IPL century. With this win Royal Challengers grabbed the third place on the IPL table and will now take on Chennai Super Kings in one of the semi-finals.
