Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Supper Kings by two wickets in an IPL encounter held at Port Elizabeth on Thursday (May 14). Chasing a modest total of 130 runs to win, the Royal Challengers got the runs in 19.4 overs and the credit goes to Ross Taylor. The hero of last match, Taylor scored a solid knock of 46 runs. He and Virat Kholi (38) put up a partnership of 56 runs for the fourth wicket that helped Challengers to achieve the victory target with two balls to spare.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their innings on a disastrous note by losing the early wicket of Jacques Kallis (0). At one time Challengers were 30-3, but the arrival of Taylor and Kholi started to turn things in favour of the team. Taylor's patient knock of 46 runs came from 50 deliveries while Virat Kholi scored 38 runs off 35 balls with four fours and two sixes. After the dismissal of Kohli, Challengers lost wickets in quick succession but R. Vinay Kumar's last minute flurry helped the Bangalore team to seal the victory in 19.2 overs.

Earlier Chennai skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Both the openers, Mathew Matthew Hayden and Murali Vijay, gave a good start to Chennai. Hayden once again played a fiery knock of 60 runs from 38 deliveries. Apart from Hayden, no other player could bat for a long time at the crease. Some tactical move by Bangalore skipper Anil Kumble along with some good fielding efforts from the players helped them to restrict Super Kings at 129 runs. Kallis, Kumble and R Vinay Kumar took two wickets each while Praveen Kumar and Roelof van der Merwe claimed one wicket each. The man of the match award was given to Ross Taylor.
