Bangalore Royal Challengers advanced into the second round of the Champions League Twenty20 with a 80-run win over Otago Volts. Jacques Kallis put up an all-round performance to guide Bangalore Royal Challengers to the second round.
The New Zealand side were all out for 108 runs in 17.5 overs chasing a target of 189 runs. Kallis was the key player in Challengers' win, who remained unbeaten at 73 .He also took three wickets to take the Indian Premier League team to the next stage.
Royal Challengers had lost the first match to Cape Cobras but after Monday's win joined Cobras from Group C in the league stage.
The Bangalore top order put an impressive performance with the veteran South African anchoring the innings. Robin Uthappa who formed the opening pair with Kallis also struck 75 runs in 59 balls. Uthappa hit five fours and two sixes before falling to Aaron Redmond.
Kallis then batted with Virat Kohli who made 32 runs and Ross Taylor. Taylor remained not out at 32 to put up an imposing total. Kallis struck four fours and two sixes. Taylor hit three sixes and a boundary off Ian Buttler, smashing 24 runs in the last over of the innings. Kallis also bowled an impressive spell taking 3 wickets to wreck the Kiwi top-order.
