Shiv Nadar has elevated his daughter Roshni Nadar as the executive director and CEO of HCL Corporation, the holding company of HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems.
Roshni is an MBA graduate from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and joined the company in April. HCL has a turnover of over Rs 5000 crore and is the fifth largest IT company in the country. After college, Roshni tried TV journalism with Sky Television. It is informed that she had covered the US attack on Iraq closely. She was amongst the first journalists to cover Saddam Hussein’s arrest.
Shiv explained that Roshni will not be responsible for any of the operational companies in which HCL has a stake. She will be responsible only for the holding company and the treasury operations. "These organisations are run by highly corporatised boards. And with an organisation structure, at the moment, she is responsible for the holding company. She runs the treasury, all the new investment decisions will be taken by her." Shiv said.
HCL Corp has 44.3% stake in HCL Info and 49.6% in HCL Tech. The company is in the process of absorbing UK-based SAP implementing firm, Axon. It had acquired Axon for $800 million in early 2008.
