The Roshans, Rakesh and Rajesh were asked by the Bombay High Court to hand over two (2) crore rupees to young composer, Ram Sampath for pilfering his music. Music Director of the film, Rajesh Roshan is accused of pinching Sampath’s music composition in the latest film Krazzy4 by Rakesh Roshan. The Bombay High Court initially held back the Roshans from releasing Krazzy4 without first omitting the plagiarized music composition from the film.
Music composer Ram Sampath and the Roshans, however, later resorted to settlement, in which Sampath charged the Roshans a fine of two crore rupees for copyright violations. Sampath was handed over a cheque of Rs 1,77,34,600 (after tax deductions) in the post lunch negotiation session. Justice DG Karnik held that Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan are prima facie guilty of copyright violations and plagiarism.
Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, in defense of his father Rakesh Roshan, had earlier sent an SMS to Ram Sampath. The message stated that Hrithik himself is a flag bearer in the fight against piracy, which is why the producer and music director of the film did not move ahead with using the music composition used in the Sony Ericsson advertisement, till they got a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the company. Ram Sampath had created the music score ‘Thump’ for a television commercial for Sony Ericsson, ironically which was done by Hrithik only.
