Bakers from Romania's Bucharest city have enlisted their names in the Guiness Book of World Records by baking the world's heaviest cake weighing 619 pounds. The fruit-and-cream cake was decorated with the Romanian and European Union flags. The world's heaviest cake had 'Happy New Year 2009' inscribed on it. The cake was commissioned by the capital for the annual winter festivities.
After confirming the news of successfully accomplishing the baking of the gigantic cake, hundreds of city residents grabbed a bite of the treat. Most of them were children who had gathered to get a glimpse of the giant cake. The record came after two other bids for the longest sausage and biggest Christmas give-away.
Romania's Bucharest city has set a record for the world's biggest-ever Christmas give-away. About 3,939 people dressed like Father Christmas distributed gifts to children in the streets. The city further claimed the title for the world's longest smoked sausage, measuring 1,286 feet long and weighing over 330 pounds.
