Rohit Sharma was named captain of the Board President's XI team on Wednesday. He will head the Indian team against Sri Lanka in a three-day game at the BKC from November 11.

The Australian side New South Wales, which won the inaugural Champions League in India, has also shown interest in the 22-year-old for the KFC Big Bash - the Aussie domestic T20 competition.

Rohit said,"I didn't even know about this warm-up game against Sri Lanka until last night.”

"I look at this as both an opportunity and responsibility," he said.

Sharma has a good record with the Board President's XI, having scored 105 against the visiting Aussies last year. Rohit about heading the team says, “I have captained my school team (Swami Vivekananda), Indian Oil and my club Parkophene a few times, and I have a reasonable record.”
