The king of the Centre Court Roger Federer exhibited a truly rocking victory over Robin Soderling during the second round of the ongoing Wimbledon tournament on Wednesday, June 25. Among the ardent fans of Federer’s who had come to view the game included music diva Gwen Stefani and her rock-star husband Gavin Rossdale. The five-time champion swept away Robin Soderling of Sweden 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) quite neatly to pack in his 61st successive win on grass. All it took the top ranked Roger Federer to floor his opponent was two hours and he is now on towards a record sixth successive title.

Infact the journey has been made easier for Federer by Marat Safin who surprisingly defeated the third ranked Novak Djokovic earlier on Wednesday in the semi-final round. The way Roger Federer played elicited loud applauses from the audiences including Gwen Stefani and her husband.  The Swiss player Federer later remarked that his victory has made him very happy. ‘The conditions were difficult, the sun was low so it was hard to see the ball in the last few points. So I was pleased to get through without playing a fourth set,’ said Roger Federer.
